It’s already August …

As we embark on the final chapter of winter, here’s a little insight into what’s happening indoors in the Mother City.

Upcoming events to look forward to…

  • SLAM City – A poignant night of poetry at the Baxter Theatre. Celebrating the raw talent of local poets, each slam promises an unforgettable experience. Head to the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town on the 3rd of August 2024.
  • Zeitz MOCCA – Winter Storytelling Programme for Families…The Stories that ran away. Four stories from the museum’s first children’s book series will e read over the course of each Saturday in August. Served with some warm hot chocolate and marshmallows. What a wonderful thing to do on a Saturday when the rain is falling over the city. From the 3rd of August 2024.
  • National Women’s Day – Head out to a long lunch table or a decadent venue surrounded by all of the great women in your life, celebrating their existence in your lives.
  • Dance of The La Gumas – This epic theatrical piece tells the remarkable story of a heritage that was almost buried by the exile of the apartheid state. La Guma’s writing is brought to life with elegance and style by playwrights Basil Appollis and Sylvia Vollenhoven. It’s a powerful love story that combines the gentility of dance or poetry, and exotic global adventures with equal ease. For an evening of different perspectives and narratives being shared, head to the Artscape Theatre, Cape Town on the 09th and 10th of August 2024.
  • A Streetcar Named Desire – Pieter Toerien presents Tennessee Williams’ classic drama that never gets old! Head to the Theatre on the Bay, Camps Bay, Cape Town. From the 14th until the 22nd of August 2024.
  • The Armed Man A Mass for Peace – The Symphony Choir of Cape Town presents a Plea for Peace at the Cape Town City Hall from the 16th until the 17th August 2024.
